Since 1972, Swiss Timing have been at the forefront of international sports events timekeeping activities. They have supplied state of the art timing equipment to many of the world’s leading sporting events, including the Olympic and Commonwealth Games.

Transporting all that valuable and sensitive time keeping equipment from one global event to another represents a significant challenge and one that can only be entrusted to experienced and reputable carriers.

Security and precision are of paramount importance to ensure that the delicate apparatus involved, such as digital scoreboards and cameras, arrives at the destination on time and in perfect condition. Failure to do so could jeopardise the entire sporting event, therefore the carrier must have total control over its drivers and routes must be expertly planned to allow for all eventualities, including border crossings and potential customs clearance delays.

Efret are proud to have been selected as Swiss Timing’s carrier of choice to provide transport of their vital equipment to the following prestigious World Athletics events this summer, including:

  • Diamond League in Rabat, Morocco
  • Hypomeeting in Götzis, Austria
  • Diamond League in Rome, Italy
  • FBK Games in Hengelo, Netherlands
  • Mehrkamf-Meeting in Ratingen, Germany
  • Diamond League in Paris France
  • Herculis EBS, Diamond League in Monaco
  • Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, United Kingdom
  • Novuna London Athletics Meet in London, United Kingdom

Efret’s team will handle the complex logistics requirements including collecting equipment from Swiss Timing’s headquarters in Switzerland and Germany, delivering to the events across Europe and coordinating the customs formalities. Efret’s innovative approach includes arranging secure storage in between events in collaboration with Group partners Unieurope in Hoofddorp, Uniserve in Tilbury and Tendron in Paris.

Gergo Zagony, Efret’s Head of Ecommerce commented: “This is one of the most challenging, but also one of the most rewarding European transport projects I’ve been involved with. There is absolutely no margin for error: the cargo is highly specialised, the schedules are tight and the consequences of a late delivery could impact an entire international sporting event.

It demands meticulous route planning, complete visibility and close coordination between our drivers, operations teams and Group partners across Europe. Customs formalities also have to be completed accurately to ensure the equipment keeps moving across borders without unnecessary delays. Like the athletics teams competing at these events, success ultimately comes down to teamwork, with every member of Team Efret playing their part to deliver when it matters.”
